Blindness

2 Feb

by Shriram Iyengar

He opens his eye to see nothing;
No blue sky, no yellow sun.
His days are black
And nights long.
The world melts away
In white blank eyes
Into a sea of darkness filled with sounds. Faceless sounds
Of unknown origin, resonating in that empty void.
Till sound becomes sight; morphing tones into words
Words into meanings
That swirl around
In the vacant mist of the emptiness
Echoing with absolute silence
And the music of rainbows.

    This certainly conveys the feeling of being totally blind.
